Swami Ishanananda:

A few days later, the youngest aunt (Radhu's mad mother), impelled by some fancy of hers, searched for her son-in-law in all possible places, even wading into the pond. And then not finding him anywhere, concluded that he had got drowned. Next she imagined that it must all be Mother's work. So she ran to Mother with wet clothes and dropping at her feet wept bitterly saying, "O dear sister-in-law, my son-in-law has got drowned in the Barhujye's pond. What's the way out now?"

This sudden news upset Mother; she called for us all saying, "Hurry here and listen to what the mad one says." She seemed to be greatly worried. We ran in. But Hari said, "Manmatha is playing cards at the grocer's shop; I saw him there."

"Run quick and bring him here," said Mother. We brought him at once. At his sight, aunt became abashed and left the place in anger, cursing Mother all the while.
