Swami Ishanananda:

One day a letter from Jayrambati informed us that a man had been caught red-handed in those parts while committing a robbery. As soon as Mother heard this she cried, "O dear, so you see! I knew that he had not got over his habit of robbery. Was it for nothing, my son, that I showed him so much affection and gave him so many things? It was thus that I kept him under control.

"He behaved like a little worm when near me. I had to live with so many girls and with all their ornaments. As for all of you, there was no certainty of anyone's stay there. One has to keep the evil ones at a distance, no matter how one does it."

Mother's illness was on the increase, The fever went up to 102 or 103 degrees; but she was restless owing to a burning sensation over the hands and feet. Her constant demand now was, "Take me to the banks of the GangA, I shall feel cooler there." Revered Sharat Maharaj tried hard for this. But the doctors did not advise any such exertion at this stage.

One day she said to me, "You take Radhu and all the others to Jayrambati." I wondered, what this could mean. Radhu was the apple of her eyes, and Mother could not be away from her for even a moment; and now she wanted them to be sent away to Jayrambati when she herself was in such a condition!
