Swami Ishanananda:

Mother still went on, "Whether one calls on God or not, one is already half free if one does not marry. And one will rush ahead with great speed once one's mind turns to God. Those only who had a burden of great sins (in the past life) marry and start a worldly life. They can't rise from the state even if their mind wants to return to God; for they are tied hands and feet."

Mother is now having a slight fever almost every day. And she is becoming very weak. Sharat Maharaj is trying hard to take her soon to Calcutta. But he is now absent in Varanasi in connection with a special day. When somebody suggested at that time that she should go to Calcutta, she said, "There can be no talk of my going to Calcutta unless Sharat be there. To whom am I to go? Suppose when I am there, Sharat says some day, 'Mother, I am going out for a few days', then I should tell him, 'Wait a little, my son, let me first get out of here, and then only should you move.' Who else but Sharat can bear my burden?"
