Sarayubala Devi:

19 April 1920:

The evening prayers were over. I arrived and saw that Mother had fever. Rashbihari Maharaj was rubbing her arms, while BrahmachAri Varada stroked her feet. A thermometer had been placed in position. Mother lay with her eyes closed. I stood at one side. Mother opened her eyes once and asked, "Who is that?"

Rashbihari Maharaj said something in a low voice. Mandakini was near by. I seemed to hear that the fever was 100.1 degrees.

Sister Sudhira was giving a feast for the girls on the occasion of the Bengali new year, and Sarala-didi had gone to the boarding house at four. Mother asked BrahmachAri Varada to send for her, she would feed Radhu's little boy. It was not yet time for the child's food; but Radhu was about to feed him again because he was crying. When Mother forbade it, Radhu flew into a rage and cursed her wishing her to die.

We were all annoyed, specially as Mother was so ill. To abuse her thus at such a time! But Radhu continued to scream at her. This often happened, but Mother's patience never came to an end, she always suffered it all in silence.
