A READING from: "In The Company of The Holy Mother"

Radhu had had a nervous breakdown and was staying at Koalpara. Mother sometimes fed her with her own hands; she would often take the food and then spit it out at Mother. Greatly annoyed, Mother once said to me, "Look, my child, the body is divine, how much can it bear? No one but God can tolerate so much. The Master never hurt me in the least, but these people worry the life out of me. If the Master cures her this time, then no more of her! See, my dear, as long as I am with them, they will not recognize me, but afterwards they will know."
During Mother's last illness at 'Udbodhan' she lost all appetite for food. She would take a little handful of rice. Once Dr. Kanjilal arrived during her meal. He thought we had given her too much rice and scolded me before Mother, "You are not good at nursing Mother. I shall engage two professional nurses tomorraow. You need not do anything."
Later Mother said to me, "Well, does he believe I shall accept service from these women with shoes on their feet? I can never do it. You will carry on as usual. Why does Kanjilal make such a fuss about my rice? Can I eat much? He knows nothing about it."
