Swami Ishanananda:

After the evening services, the monks and devotees started singing in chorus. They sung the following song again and again: "None need worry for Mother's vision any more. For she is not the Mother of a few only, but of the whole universe." etc.

Mother listened to it sitting in a side room with the other ladies. At night she told me, "The song breathed life. What caste can devotees have? All the boys are the same. How I wish I could seat all the boys round the same vessel and feed them. But this benighted village makes so much fuss about caste. In any case, mudi (parched rice) creates no such difficulty. You do one thing tomorrow. Early morning you bring from the shop of Satya, the sweet-seller of Karmarpukur, two seers of big jiebis."

Next morning I returned at about 9 o'clock with the jilebis. Mother offered these to the Master and then arranging them round a large plate of mudi, she had it all sent to the devotees. We all ate with great delight, while Mother watched from the side room.
