Swami Arupananda:

Since I had brought no extra clothes with me, Mother had given me something to wear. "Take these clothes with you," she now said. "Have you any money? You will need it for fares and so on. Take some money too."

"There is no need for that, Mother," I replied. "I have some money."

"Write to me when you get there," she said. "I couldn't even give my son a good meal. I couldn't get anyone to catch fish," she said sadly. All this was due to the trouble over Radhu's mother and Nalini.

I bowed at Mother's feet and set out with tears in my eyes. She came with us a long way and then stood gazing after us as long as she could see us. I was so upset that I could not check my tears all the way to Karmarpukur. When we arrived there, Shashi introduced me to Aunt. I was deeply moved when I saw Mother's picture in her room.

She seemed the very image of motherhood, immersed in meditiation for the good of the world. I slept in Mother's room at night, Aunt providing the bedding. Next day was ShivarAtri. We went to see the image of Burho-Shiva of Karmarpukur.
