A READING from: "In The Company of The Holy Mother"

15 June, 1912 :
One of the ladies said, "I have four daughters, Mother, and I am dreadfully worried because I can't marry them off."
"Why do you worry about not being able to marry them off?" Mother said. "Put them in Nivedita's school. They will get educated to their own good."....
Someone else declared, "It is hard to find a good bridegroom these days, and then many boys don't want to get married."
"Boys have more sense nowadays," Mother remarked. "They have realized that life is fleeting and the less they have to do with a worldly life, the better for them."...
It was getting late but no one had come to fetch me. When Golap-Ma called downstairs to make enquiries, some one replied, "Why, we told them that she must have gone back with Gouri-Ma."
When I heard this, I said to Mother, "Never mind, if no one comes for me, I shall stay here tonight."
It was nearly eleven when young Binode came to fetch me; he had been at Gouri-Ma's school and not finding me had come back again. Most of the BrahmachAris downstairs had gone to bed. When I made my obeisance to Mother and took my leave, she said, "So, you couldn't stay tonight! Well, you must stay some other night."....
