A READING from: "In The Company of The Holy Mother"Â

Once during the rainy season, Jayrambati suffered from malaria and dysentery. Mother too suffered from dysentery for some days and she came round with Dr. Kanjilal's medicines.Â
As a result of walking through rain and mud, we of the Koalpara Ashrama too had been running a temperature more or less. Finding that we failed to turn up at Jayrambati continuously for about a fortnight, Mother sent her maid to inquire about us.
Next day she sent for us a letter in Radhu's handwriting, in which she said, "Dear Kedar, I installed the Master there. He used to take parboiled rice and fish as well. Therefore I ask you to offer parboiled rice to him, and fish at least on Saturdays and Tuesdays. Do not offer fish on Sundays. And you must not offer in any case less than three curries to him. How can you fight with the malaria of these parts if you are so sparing in food?"
A few days later, Mother was talking to Kedar Babu about Radhu, "She has grown up to be such a big girl," she said, "and still she has little sense. What a bondage the Master forged round me through her. When, after his passing away, I returned to the village and used to sit here without any interest in life, and had a vision of her (Radhu) roaming about in the form of a little girl with red sAri."
