Swami Ishanananda:

In course of a talk one evening, Mother said, "I can no longer find fault in anyone, my son. Each has to get the results of the actions he earned for this life. A pin at least must prick where a wound from a sword was due. They spoke to me of the faults of Ashu. Where were they all then? How dilligently he served me. I had to boil paddy at my brother's house then.

"My sisters-in-law were then very young girls. He would start work with me from the morning without caring for heat or cold, and would take down the huge vessels of paddy from the fire, with soot sticking all over his body. Many now come as devotees. But whom had I then? Can we forget all that? But nobody is really to blame. Formerly people's faults appeared to my eyes also.

"Then with tears I prayed to the Master, 'Master, I can no longer bear finding fault.' Then only this defect left me. Even if you commit so much as a little fault after doing a thousand good to somebody, he will at once be offended. People only look for faults. One should look for the merits as well."
