A READING from: "In The Company of The Holy Mother"ÂÂ
(available at all Vedanta Centres)
24 December, 1915:
"In the course of our conversation I said, 'Mother, there is so much misery everywhere on account of this war; people suffer so much, food and clothes have grown so dear!'ÂÂ
'And still men have no sense!' Mother replied.ÂÂ
'Mother, will this war do us any good?' I asked.ÂÂ
'Whenever the Master comes, it is like this,' Mother answered. 'There is yet much more to come'..." All this my wife reported to me.
When I went to pay my respects to Mother the same evening, she referred to my visit to Jayrambati in the rain and dark during the JanmAsti holiday and scolded me again saying, "One must not be so rash."
"No, Mother, it will not happen again," I assured her.
Mother must have thought I meant I would not visit Jayrambati again and cried out, "No, no, you must come again. My son, if so much as a thorn pricks one of you, a sword enters my heart!" Looking at my wife, she continued, "See that he does not do it again, my daughter."...
