30 March 1920:
One by one everyone left the prayer room.....
Later I said, "I would like to say something, Mother, I hope I am not bothering you?"
"No, no, go on, say it," Mother said.
I told her and she said, "Ah, such bliss is not for every day, my child. It is all true, nothing is false. He is everything...."
"Mother," I continued, "sometimes after repeating the name of God intently, I find that a long time has passed and I haven't done any of the other things you told me. These I now have to finish quickly because I can't neglect my household duties. Is that wrong, Mother?"
"Oh, no, that is not wrong," Mother replied....Then she continued to talk about the mysteries of religion till Mandakini came in and expressed her wish to tuck in the Mother's mosquito-net.
I was thinking of taking my leave and said so. Mother immediately raised her head from the pillow and said, "Go ahead, now, I have raised my head," - because one is not supposed to bow to the feet of a peron who is lying down. As I rose she said, "Come again, my child, and come early. I suppose you can't finish your household duties earlier? God bless you, dear, come again."
The mosquito-net had already been tucked in, but she put her head out and bade me farewell. Even after I had come out on to the veranda, I could hear her compassionate voice blessing me. So great was her love that as long as one was near her, one could forget all grief and pain.
