We fell to talking about flowers once more. Mother said, "When we lived at Dakshineswar, I once made a seven stranded garland of Jasmine and rangan (Ixora). I made the garland in the evening and as soon as I placed it in water in a dish of stone, all the buds opened out. I sent the garland for our Goddess KAli. They had taken off Her jewellery and were decking Her out in flowers. Just then the Master went to have a look at Her and the minute he saw Her, he fell into a trance.
"He continued to repeat, 'How lovely the flowers suit Her dark colouring.'
Then he asked, 'Who made the garland?' Someone told him that I had made it and he cried, 'Do send for her and let her see how beautiful the Mother looks with the garland!'
"The maid Vrinda went and fetched me. As I drew near the temple I noticed Balaram Babu and Suren Babu. They were coming towards the temple, and I was so shy that I did not know where to hide! I hid behind the end of Vrinda's sAri and was about to mount the back stairs, when, gracious me, the Master noticed this and cried, 'Don't go that way, my dear, a fisher-woman slipped and was seriously injured the other day! Do come by the front stairs!'
"When Balaram Babu and the others heard this, they moved aside. I went and found the Master singing before the Goddess in an ecstasy of love!"
Just then a number of women disciples of Mother arrived, and the discussion had to be discontinued.....
