Sarayubala Devi:

18 September, 1912 :

When Golap-Ma heard Mother's remark (concerning her regret that I had not seen the holy river), she cried, "What does it matter? It will suffice if she just touches your feet."

When I repeated Golap-Ma's remark Mother said, "What a thing to say! The GangA!"

In this way she always gave herself out as an ordinary person; but I also noticed that when there were no onlookers, she would sometimes assume a divine glory in her compassionate demeanour towards someone.

She came into the room and taking her seat on the cot, said, "It's all the more fortrunate that we had a dip in the GangA." I felt that she knew I had come that day with the intention of worshipping her feet.

The worship over, I took the dust off her feet and rose. At last Mother took some refreshments and again with deep affection made me sit near her and share half of every morsel she touched. I ate with great joy.
