A READING from: "In The Company of The Holy Mother"Â
(available at all Vedanta Centres)
I went in the morning one day, and took with me a large bunch of flowers I had gathered from our garden. When I gave them to Mother, she was delighted and proceeded to decorate the Master with the flowers. There were some blue flowers. She picked them up and said, "Look at the colouring! Once at Dakshineswar, a girl named Asha picked a beautiful red flower from a bush, which had very dark leaves and wept and kept saying, 'What is this! Why should such a lovely red flower have such dark leaves! Lord, why did you do this!'
"The Master asked her, 'What has come over you now, why do you weep?'
"She was quite unable to explain, but continued to cry until the Master comforted her with many words. But do look at the heavenly blue of these flowers. The Master should never be without flowers."
With this, she gathered handfuls of flowers and offered them to the Master. As she took up the first handful, a flower dropped to her own feet, and she cried, "Lo, it falls to my own feet first!"
"That is all right," said I, for though the Master was greater in her eyes, they were both equal to us.
