Sarayubala Devi:

6 August, 1918:

After her orders (to sprinkle GangA water and sweep the room) had been carried out, Mother arose and lightening her clothes put a fan in my hands saying, "Fan me, my dear, my body is burning. Enough of this city of Calcutta! One cries I am unhappy because of this, another says I am unhappy because of that, I can bear it no more......

"That is why the Master used to say, 'There are four measures of water to each measure of milk; I blow and blow until my eyes burn. Where are you, my all-renouncing boys, come, let me speak to you and find relief.'

"He was quite right. Fan me, dear. People have been pouring in from four o'clock, I can bear their misery no longer! Alas, Baburam's wife too came today and wept for Baburam saying, 'He was not just an ordinary brother!' True he was like a god...."

(to be continued....)
