Sarayubala Devi:

31 January, 1913:

Mother also told me many things about Gouri-Ma's early life. I learnt that she had to suffer many sorrows and tribulations. We began to talk about Varanasi and she said, "I was very happy there, and to add to it I had my whole huge company along with me!"...

Some four or five women came....They wanted some instruction. Mother said with a smile, "What instruction can you have from me? The Master's words have all come out in print. If you can but follow one of his teachings you get everything."

She talked with them about many petty affairs. When they had left she said to me, "Where is the person to receive any instruction? The recipient must be fit, my dear, else it avails nothing."...

Annapurna's mother came and said, "Mother, I heard you telling me in a dream, 'Eat that food from my plate, and you will be cured.' But I objected, 'The Master forbade me to accept food from anybody's plate.' Now then, Mother, give me some food consecrated by you."

Mother did not agree, but she insisted.

"Would you do just what the Master forbade?" asked Mother.

She replied, "That held good so long as I made a difference between the Master and yourself. Now give me."

At last Mother granted her request.

(to be continued....)
