Sarayubala Devi:

11 February, 1912 :

"Girish would say (about his new-born son), 'It is the Master come back again.' A disciple's craving! - one can never say! One day the child was so anxious to see me that he dragged at everyboidy's hand and pointing upstairs, where I was, kept uttering - 'Oooh! Oooh!' At first no one could understand him; finally when they did so, they brought him to me, and little though he was, he fell at my feet and bowed. Then he went downstairs and started to pull at Girish, in order to bring him to me. Girish burst into tears and cried, 'Child, how can I go to see Mother, sinner that I am!' But the boy would not let him go.

"At last he came up with the child in his arms, trembling in every limb, his eyes filled with tears and stretching himself in obeisance at my feet, cried, 'Mother, he is the reason that I have been permitted to look upon your feet!' But the boy died when he was four years old."

"Some time before this, Girish and his wife had climbed to the terrace of their house. I was staying at Balaram Babu's house and in the evening had gone up to the roof for air. I had not noticed that I could be observed from Girsh's terrace. Later, I leant from his wife that she had remarked to him, 'Look, there is Mother walking on the terrace there.'

"When he heard this, Girish immediately turned his back and cried, "No, no, my eyes are full of sin, I must not look at her this way like a thief.' With this, he went downstairs."
