A READING from: "In The Company of The Holy Mother"

1911 A.D. : Towards evening today, I went from our Pataldanga house to see Mother. As soon as I had taken my seat in Mother's room, Golap-Ma came and said, "A sannyAsini has come from Varanasi in order to collect funds to pay her guru's debts. You must contribute something."
I assented gladly. Mother laughed and said, "She has asked me as well, but I can't borrow money from anybody; so I said, 'Stay here, everything will be all right.'"
"Yes, in the end, Mother arranged everything." Golap-Ma said.
Mother whispered to me, "Golap gave three guineas."
A little later the SannyAsini arrived. She had been to Balaram Babu's house. The devotees there had each contributed according to his means. I heard that before she renounced the world, she had been mistress of a large household and had seven sons. They had now assumed their place in the world and taken all responsibilities upon their shoulders, and she had thereupon renounced the world and come away.
