A READING from: "In The Company of The Holy Mother"
(available at all Vedanta Centres)
15 June, 1912 :
Durga-didi said, "It is India's misfortune that she (Sister Nivedita) died so early."
Someone else said, "She seemed to belong to India. She would herself say so. On Saraswati pujA day she would go about with bare feet and a spot from the homa-ashes on her forehead."
I finished my reading. Holy Mother was still sorrowing over Nivedita. In the end she said, "The inner spirit weeps for all good souls."
Then Mother changed her garments and went away to make the evening offerings of refreshments to the Master. She had strung a few garlands of flowers for the Master and had already placed them before him. Beside them BrahmachAri Rashibihari had placed a dish of sweets as offerings, The syrup from the sweets had trickled on to the flowers and ants had gathered. At this Mother laughed and said, "Forsooth, the ants will bite the Master now. O Rashibihari, what have you done?"...
Radhu's mother (Mother's crazy sister-in-law) smiled to see Mother decorating her husband with garlands in front of everybody. Mother asked Gouri-Ma to distribute the sweets among those present and eveyone had a share.
