A READING from: "In The Company of The Holy Mother"Â
(available at all Vedanta Centres)
Varanasi, Wednesday, 5 November, 1912 Kiron Babu's House, Morning:
Mother's crazy sister-in-law was here with her, worrying the life out of her. Referring to this Mother remarked, "I must have placed thorns on the head of Shiva along with the bel leaves or why would I be tormented like this?
"I cannot remember doing any evil deeds. I touched him (the Master) sure enough even at the age of five. Perhaps I was then too young to understand, but he touched me too. Why should I then suffer in this way? Others find salvation by touching him, why should I alone be surrounded by mAyA! Day and night my mind seeks to reach greater heights, but I keep it down by force - out of pity, for the sake of these people - and I have to be tormented like this!"
"Mother, let her do what she likes," I consoled her, "you must bear with it all. One in one's proper senses never flies into a rage."
"You are right, my son," Mother replied. "There is nothing like forbearance. But do you know, after all I have a human body. I might lose my temper and suddenly say something harsh!"
Then she continued to herself, "One who speaks out at the proper time is a friend. There is no use for sympathy at the wrong time."
