Udbodhan (Mother's Room), 24 April, 1912:
It was half past one. I had gone upstairs after the midday meal in order to fetch pAn. I heard Mother talking....She said, "'Men cannot give up their nature,' Chaitanya Deva once said, 'I favour him who forgets his own nature and worships me.'"
I said, "I remember you once said at Jayrambati, 'It would be all right if one's nature could change.' Another day you said, 'Some people's nature is such that as soon as one sees them one feels a love for them, but when one sees others one has a different feeling.'"
"You are right, my son," Mother said, "all that counts is one's nature. What else matters?"
"Speaking of Golap-Ma," I said, "Sharat Maharaj (Swami Saradananda) remarked that if she gives away a green coconut she would shout it out to the whole house."
"Yes, they have got into that habit nowadays," Mother said. "They make a scene at the slightest cause. Jogen (Jogin-Ma) used to be so quiet and controlled, but she too is not like that any lomger. My son, forbearance is a great virtue, there is no other like it."
