A READING from: "In The Company of The Holy Mother"Â
(available at all Vedanta Centres)
Mother: "The household in the garden house at Cossipore was quite expensive. Three separate menus were prepared; one for the Master, one for Naren and the others, and one for the rest of the household. They used to raise subscriptions; that was why one person went away."
Udbodhan (Prayer Room), 14th April, 1911:
I went upstairs with flowers which arrived daily for the pujA. As it was getting late Mother had said, "Bring them up as soon as they come." She used to get the things ready and perform the pujA herself.
She beckoned to me to go near. She was seated on a cot and inquired after a certain disciple. She asked, "Is he downstairs?"
"Yes," I said.
"What does he do? Reading?"
"Yes, sometimes, perhaps."
"Isn't he going to the Belur Math, then?"
"No, he has no desire to go."
"You must persuade him."
"I have done so many times. You speak to him, Mother, so that he may at least go and spend a few days there."
"I too have spoken to him many times, my son," Mother said, "but even then he pays no heed."
