A READING from: "In The Company of The Holy Mother"Â
(available at all Vedanta Centres)
"People say that the Master was the true and perfect Godhead. What do you say?" I asked the Holy Mother.
"Yes, to me he was such."
"Well," I said, "every husband is so to his own wife. I didn't ask in that sense."
"Yes, he was so in every way," Mother answered.
I thought to myself that if the Master was such, Holy Mother must be the Mother of the world - Sita cannot be separated from RAma, Nor RAdhA from Krishna. I had come to see her in the first place with this faith.
"Then why do I see you like this rolling out dough like any ordinary woman?" I inquired. "What is the meaning of it all? Is it all am illusion?"
"So it is," the Mother said, "Or why should I be here like this?.....The gods play in human guise. Sri Krishna was a milkman's son. RAma was Dasharatha's."
"Do you remember your real state?" I asked.
"Yes, sometimes I do. Then I say to myself, what am I doing? What am I doing? All on a sudden this house, these children come back to my mind and I forget."
I would go and sit near Mother almost every evening. Radhu, Mother's niece, would be sleeping beside her. A lamp winked on the little stand in the room.
