Swami Arupananda:

Another morning when Mother was sitting in her veranda making betel leaves, I said, "A time will come, Mother, when people will worship you."

Mother laughed and said, "What! people will say, 'Our Mother had rheumatism and limped when she walked.'"

"Well, you may say what you like," I answered.

"But that illness is a blessing in a way," Mother said. "That is why when the Master fell ill at Cossipore, he used to say, 'Those who came for their own gain have left me saying, "Why, if he is the incarnation of God, how can he be sick? It is all an illusion!" Whereas those who love me break their hearts when they see me suffering like this.'"

"Once I was ill and in a delerium," Mother continued, "Kusum ran to Golap, 'Come and see, Mother is in a delirium.' She always talks like that,' Golap replied. 'No, no, it is really delirium, do come and look.' 'No, it is nothing'. In the end Kusum called Ashu and then they saw that it was really delirium."

Udbodhan: The day before I was initiated, I went to Mother and said, "Mother, I would like to receive your initiation."

"Have you not been initiated as yet?" she asked.

When I replied in the negative, she continued, "I thought you had!"

After my initiation she said, "May the Lord's name and prayers make you pure in mind and body."

(to be continued....)
